Enrolling in VATCAN’s National Training Unit (NTU) will get you started along the path to controlling in Vatsim’s Canadian airspace.
After you sign up.you will be assigned an NTU Software Specialist who will meet with you and provide an overview of ATC at VATCAN.
You will then be assigned an NTU Instructor who will co-ordinate radar client set-up, study material, tests, and practice sessions using the radar software on an off-line system.
After a mid term exam and practicum, you will be awarded the S1 rating and permitted to connect to the network as a tower controller at CYXU while supervised by your instructor.
After some further instruction and an ‘over the shoulder’ exam, you will graduate from the NTU with an S2 rating, allowing you to control ‘solo’ at CYXU.
You will then be assigned to your selected home FIR, and may control and continue your training for higher ratings there.
